Cardano’s Web3 wallet, Lace, has released a major update ahead of the hard fork announcement. Lace 2.0 integrates Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin into a single interface. Version 2.0.3 resolved a white screen issue, while 2.0.4 introduced a default view mode and an auto-lock timer. The upcoming hard fork to Protocol 11, Van Rossem, is scheduled for late 2026 and will enhance Plutus performance and node security. Lace version 2.0.3 fixes a white screen issue encountered by some users that prevented migration or connection to DApps. It also resolves a specific case where certain older wallets (originally imported from Nami) were unable to upgrade from Lace v1 to v2. This update improves the visibility and overall stability of the DApp connector, and introduces faster, clearer loading indicators and other enhancements.

Lace 2.0.4 introduces a default view mode that allows users to switch between the sidebar and tabs, with automatic return to the sidebar when needed. This version also adds an auto-lock timer in wallet settings to reduce frequent password prompts. Additionally, it fixes missing Spanish and Japanese translations for certain tabs and includes other improvements.

Cardano is preparing for an in-era hard fork to upgrade to protocol version 11, which will enhance Plutus performance, ledger consistency, and node security.

This upgrade, named the Van Rossem hard fork, avoided a generational transition, thereby minimizing integration burden while introducing enhanced primitives, VRF key uniqueness, and updated reference input rules.

The update is expected to take place in late June 2026, with preparations and ecosystem readiness progressing steadily.

Last week, Cardano Node version 11.0.1 was released as a pre-release, which is necessary for a secure transition across the hard fork.

Over the past few weeks, the consensus team has continued working on the Leios prototype as part of Treasury Funding Program 4. Several bugs in the Leios prototype have been fixed, enabling the System Reliability team to launch the Leios testnet, which is now running the prototype.
