Rakuten announced in digital asset news that it will support XRP as a payment method in its Rakuten Pay app starting April 15. Around 44 million users can use XRP to pay at 5 million merchants in Japan, trade it on the spot, or purchase it with Rakuten Points. The service also stores XRP in the Rakuten Wallet. Rakuten already supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin Cash. A Ripple executive called the move a major step forward for digital asset adoption.
