Brett Adcock, CEO of humanoid robotics company Figure, has launched a new AI lab named Hark, with an initial funding of $100 million from his personal wealth. Hark aims to develop advanced personal AI devices by integrating proprietary multimodal models with custom hardware. The lab, which has been operating secretly for eight months, plans to release its first AI models this summer, followed by hardware.Hark's team includes former Apple industrial designer Abidur Chowdhury as Head of Design, along with Apple veterans David Narajowski and Dave Wilkes. The AI research team features senior researchers from Meta’s Superintelligence Lab. The team is expected to grow from 45 to 100 members by mid-year, with recruits from Google, Amazon, and Tesla.
